After a brief initial introduction to the 6+1 Traits system, I would say that it appears to be a good idea. It seems like it would be very useful to implement a system that can be used across curriculum, that has the potential to span many years, and can communicate in a common language. I also like the fact that teachers can use this method with all of their students no matter what level of mastery they hold. It is always difficult to meet the needs of all students, but this system seems like it might help.
Of course, that being said, writing is still a very subjective and personal process in my book, and I still need to do some thinking to decide whether or not I think this method for teaching “good” writing would stifle potential creativity in my students.

I know that we have all used NPR sites quite a bit in our discussions, but I just can't get enough. I visit this site at least once a week to listen to old broadcasts. They cover a broad range of topics and some of them may be very useful in an English class. Even if you don't use them in a class, they are still just plain interesting and fun to listen to in our many spare moments of free time.
